for Welcome to the Detective Camp

I. Teaching content and students analysis

In the new type of reading comprehension exercise, students are required to choose five correct sentences from the six choices to complete the article. Students need to have the ability to understand and analyze the text.

Students of Grade 9 have little difficulty in understanding an article and can do a better job in the normal reading comprehension exercise. However, most of them are not familiar to the new type of exercise. Therefore, in this lesson, the teacher will help to guide students to work out the reading comprehension exercise by analyzing three aspects-structure, key words and logic of an article.

II. Teaching Objectives

At the end of the class, students are expected to 1.Analyze the structure of an article.

2.Find the key words like the same words, similar words and pronouns.3.Figure out the logic among sentences.

4.Work out a complete reading comprehension exercise with the skills above.III.Key and difficult points1.Key point

IV.Teaching ProceduresStages Warm up (3 min) Teacher’s activities 1.Ask Ss to guess a cartooncharacter by offering some hints. 2.Introduce the aims and rules ofthe Detective Camp and encourage Ss to work hard for the title of honored detective group. 1.Show Ss the picture of our(10 school and ask Ss to complete the school introduction after watching a short video about our school. Guide Ss to figure out the structure of the article. 2.Group Work: Show Ss somesentences in random and ask them to work in groups to put the Students’ activities 1.Guess the character withthe help of the hints. 2.Make clear the learningaims and rules in this class. Find out the key words that make the two sentences coherent and learn about them. 3. Finish some exercises using the skill of finding key words. 1.
