有一次我为自己感到骄傲英语作文

A Time I Felt Proud of Myself

Have you ever felt really proud of something you did? Like, so proud that you couldn't stop smiling and your heart was beating super fast? Well, that's how I felt one day last summer. It was the best feeling ever! Let me tell you all about it.

It was a hot, sunny day in July. School was out for summer vacation, and my parents had to go to work. That meant my big brother Bobby and I had to stay home alone. Bobby is 14 years old, so he was in charge of watching me. Now, Bobby is usually really good at being the \"boss\" and telling me what to do. But on this day, he was being a real pain!

\"Sarah, go clean your room!\" he yelled at me first thing in the morning. I hate cleaning my room. It's always such a mess with my toys and books and clothes everywhere.

\"But Bobby, I don't want to! Can't I just watch TV instead?\" I whined. Bobby can be so mean sometimes.

\"No way! If you don't clean it up, I'm telling Mom and Dad when they get home,\" he threatened. I knew he wasn't kidding, so I stomped upstairs and tried to tidy things up a little.

A little while later, Bobby started yelling again. \"Sarah! Did you feed Buddy his lunch yet?\" Buddy is our dog, a cute little beagle puppy. Feeding him is one of my regular chores.

\"Oops, I forgot!\" I said, feeling bad. I ran to get Buddy's bowl and food, but Bobby had already stormed into the kitchen. \"You never do anything I tell you! I'm the oldest, so you have to listen to me,\" Bobby ranted while he filled up Buddy's bowl. I felt really sad that he was so mad at me.

After lunch, I was playing outside when Bobby came out looking for me again. \"Mom said to make sure you practice your times tables today. Get your math flashcards and let's go,\" he ordered.

\"Aww, math?! It's summer! I don't want to do times tables,\" I groaned. Bobby just glared at me, so I went inside and got my flashcards. We sat at the kitchen table while he quizzed me. I couldn't focus at all because I was still upset about him yelling earlier.

Finally, around 4 o'clock, our parents got home from work. As soon as my mom walked in, Bobby went running up to her. \"Mom, Mom! Sarah didn't listen to me all day. She didn't clean her room, she forgot to feed Buddy, and she wouldn't practice

her times tables like you said,\" he tattled. I couldn't believe he was selling me out like that!

My mom looked really disappointed in me. \"Sarah, is that true? You know you need to listen to Bobby when we're not here,\" she scolded. I hung my head down, feeling ashamed. \"Yeah, it's true. I'm sorry,\" I mumbled. My dad had joined us in the hallway by then too.

\"Well, this behavior is unacceptable, young lady. You're grounded from TV for the rest of the week as your punishment,\" my dad said sternly. My eyes welled up with tears. No TV for a whole week?! That was so unfair. I hadn't meant to make anyone mad or get in trouble!

I turned and ran upstairs to my bedroom, crying loudly. A little bit later, I heard a soft knock at my door. It was my mom. \"Sarah, can we talk?\" she asked gently, sitting down on my bed beside me. I nodded sadly, wiping my eyes. \"Sweetheart, I know you're upset, but you have to understand how important it is to listen to your big brother. When your dad and I aren't home, Bobby is in charge of keeping you safe. If he tells you to do something, it's for a very good reason.\"

\"But Mom, it's just so hard!\" I wailed. \"Bobby is so bossy and mean about it. He yells at me all the time. I was just trying to have fun since it's summer vacation!\"

My mom gave me a big hug. \"I know it feels that way, honey. But Bobby is doing his best to look after you and make sure you're behaving properly. You're only 8 years old, so you still need someone older supervising you when we're not around. Bobby is taking that responsibility very seriously. You should be proud of him for that,\" she explained.

I thought about what she said and realized maybe I had been too hard on Bobby earlier. He was just trying to do what Mom and Dad told him, and I made it really difficult by not listening.

The next day, Bobby and I were alone again. As soon as our parents left for work, he started barking orders like normal. \"Okay shrimp, time to feed Buddy, then we'll do some math practice.\"

But this time, instead of arguing, I simply said, \"You got it, boss!\" and did what he asked right away. Bobby looked surprised, but he didn't say anything else.

All morning long, I followed his instructions without complaining once. When Mom and Dad got home that evening, Bobby didn't have any tattling to do.

\"Sarah was really good today, Mom. She did everything I told her to,\" he told my mom. She looked at me with surprise and pride.

\"Way to go, Sarah! I'm so proud of you for being responsible and listening to your brother,\" she praised, giving me a high-five. I beamed, feeling so happy inside.

From that day on, I made an effort to obey Bobby's directions and not give him a hard time. We started getting along much better once I stopped being so stubborn and defiant. Sure, he could still be bossy at times, but I knew he was just looking out for me like our parents wanted.

A few weeks later, something happened that really made me understand how much Bobby cared about me and my safety. One scorching afternoon, I was outside playing catch by myself since Bobby didn't want to join me. I kept wandering further and further down our street, not paying much attention.

Suddenly, I looked up and realized I was almost half a mile away from my house! I had never gone that far by myself before.

I started to feel scared, wondering how I would find my way back home.

Just then, I heard Bobby shouting my name and came around the corner. \"There you are! Sarah, what are you doing way out here? You know you're not allowed to go wandering so far away!\" he scolded, rushing over to me looking frantic.

That's when I realized Bobby must have come looking for me because I had been gone for so long. Tears filled my eyes as I realized how worried he must have been.

\"I'm s-sorry, Bobby. I-I didn't mean to! I just kept w-walking and then I got lost,\" I cried. Bobby pulled me into a big hug and didn't let go for a long time.

\"It's okay, it's okay. You're safe now, that's all that matters,\" he said, sounding so relieved. \"C'mon, let's get you back home.\" Holding my hand tightly, Bobby walked me all the way back to our house. Once we were inside, he turned to me very seriously.

\"Sarah, you can't ever wander off like that again, you hear me? You're way too little to be going places all by yourself. I was so scared when I couldn't find you! You have to stay where I can

keep an eye on you when Mom and Dad aren't here. Promise me,\" he demanded.

I nodded tearfully. \"I promise, Bobby. I'm really, really sorry I scared you. Thank you for coming to find me,\" I said, giving him another big hug.

From that moment on, I never complained when Bobby told me what to do again. I was just so grateful to have such a brave, responsible big brother who cared about me so much. He really was the best babysitter ever, keeping me safe always.

Whenever I think back to that summer day when I got lost, I still feel so proud of Bobby for how he handled everything. Instead of getting angry or upset with me, he just felt relieved that I was okay. He showed so much maturity and

level-headedness in a situation that could have been really scary for both of us. I'm lucky to have such an awesome brother. I also feel proud of myself for turning over a new leaf and making an effort to follow Bobby's directions obediently after that. It made our days together so much easier and happier. I realized that even though Bobby could be bossy sometimes, he was just trying to do the right thing by watching out for me like our parents wanted. Once I started seeing it that way, I had a lot more respect and appreciation for him.

So yeah, that's the story of a time I felt really proud -
