I’m Li Ming, a senior three student in our school. Learning that you are gathering articles about the
discussion of labeling others and being labeled, I’m writing to voice my view concerning about this thought-provoking phenomenon.
Labeling, characterized by imperceptibly making others breathless, is now prevailing among people from all walks of life. A case in point dates back to my childhood when I was in junior high school. My chunky appearance was far from satisfactory; especially my belly fat was so fleshy that it showed its way into my classmates’ nickname list, which was Michelin Tires, so vivid however. Being so called Michelin Tires induces great disappointment stemmed seem like a huge obstacle unable to surmount. But it was that ironic label that drove me to shed ponds of unwanted weight and became a brand-new me after consistent practice.
From my cases, Label is not the monster that may absolutely smash one’s self-esteem; a more fitting image can be that of Janus, a Roman god, whose has two faces looking in the opposite direction. So as long as we are able to strike a balance between the real me and the labeled me, it will sure give you more incentive and enables you to fight tooth and nail. When it comes to some malicious labeling, what we should do is to face the music up and hail it as our stepping stone.
