I would like to choose ‘ViVi’ as my analysis. ‘ViVi’ is a very vogue fashion magazine in Japan currently. ‘ViVi’ is the best-seller over a long time, compared to other homogeneous magazines. I tend to think that it is not only for fruitful substance, but also for fashionable cover.
Masthead is heading, which records date of publishment, price and so on. As we can see masthead on ‘ViVi’ below the title is “clothes& make up& health”, “8th April 2009” .The typography including front, size, color etc. Which is used in the title of the magazine. Sans serif is the front without the ‘flicks’ on the edges. Words are not only having language meaning, but also having abstract symbol. Editors use a sans serif and therefore make it look less formal. Editors choose pink as front color. This looks vivid, in that pink stands for lovely, fantastic and romantic, then looks more attractive. Moreover, pink also stands for a girl is going to have her own idea and she goanna to change. Personally, I think it shows ‘‘ViVi style”-sweet between sexy. ‘ViVi’ uses large front，then looks more distinct. “V” of ‘ViVi’ stands for this magazine apart from means “victory”. In fact ‘ViVi’ is not to targets its readership age ,but belongs to a special ‘V’ human-being, who is fashion forward, enthusiastic, adventurous and wants to be herself
In general, magazine needs some pictures on its front cover. It functions as enrich its cover. At each months ‘ViVi, they will have had a famous Japan mode as its cover girl. The cover girl who is in current issue is America born Japanese. So when readership look at the cover probably will feel alone. Body language is a form of non-verbal communication, consisting of body pose, gestures, and eye movements etc. For the most part cover modes express what is on its mind by its body language. As for the ‘ViVi’ cover girl, she was smile but slightly. It is highly embodied that a charming little woman. She has Japanese style curly hair. It looks so sweet. However, she wears a leopard dress. It looks sexier. Although it is widely maintained that two different kinds of style, but those two styles are not incompatible. Because “ViVi style” is cute between mature. Her body is leaned to left and goes down on both knees. At the same time, she crosses her hands near to her knees. Extra dietetic gaze means when a face aracter looks directly at the readership/audience. The cover girl looks us gently. As a matter of facts, she is a confident girl. ‘ViVi’ encourage readership to be yourself and believe in yourself and by the cover girl’s body language, we can know that.
